The “Waivers for Exceptional Students ” is a system that exempts doctoral students selected for university-designated programs from paying the admission fee and tuition.
Students eligible for this system are not required to submit a separate application documents for the tuition fee waiver.
The eligible programs for the 2026 academic year are as follows.

-JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientists
-Degree programs: International Joint Graduate Program, Academia-Industry Collaborating Graduate Program, Division for Interdisciplinary Advanced Research and Education
Matriculating domestic students
-Advanced Graduate School Next-Generation AI Expert Development Project (Japanese citizens only)
-Advanced Graduate School Pioneering Research Support Project for PhD Students (Japanese citizens only)
-TU-AGS LEAP Program (Comprehensive Support Package) (general selection, Japanese citizens only)※
* The admission fee waiver is available only to Japanese citizens.
*Some international students (those with a residence status other than “Student,” such as “Permanent Resident” or “Spouse/Child of a Japanese Citizen”) will be treated as citizens of Japan. (Details will be announced later.)
*Students who exceed the standard course term (e.g. repeat years) will be ineligible.
*Students who, during a school term, take a leave of absence, are readmitted after a leave, withdraw from the university, finish their program, or withdraw from their program will be eligible during their term of enrollment in their program etc.

Result
The results of admission and tuition fee waivers will be posted on the Student Affairs Information System in July(April enrollment) and December (October enrollment).
